Banana Pudding

Sorry for not posting anything the past few weeks.  I was moving and it took a while to get the computer set up enough for me to do this. So you get a multi-post recipe! This banana pudding is made with vanilla wafers and vanilla pudding.  Also bananas, obviously.

Banana pudding is my sister's favorite dessert.  In fact it is the only dessert she likes.  So I make it on her birthday instead of cake (hence the fancy bowls and place-mats in the picture).

My vanilla wafer recipe will give you way more cookies than are needed to make the amount of pudding shown.  But the amount of vanilla pudding is absolutely perfect.  It generally takes between two and three bananas depending on their size.

Cookies...

First, a layer of cookies!  Don't be afraid to break the cookies if they are too large for the coverage you need.  Nobody will be able to tell after it's together.

I fit in lots of banana slices.

Then a layer of sliced bananas.  As you can see, I use an egg slicer.  Although, I'm not sure it should be called that because it has never sliced eggs.  It's sliced strawberries, kiwi, and bananas though.  It's more of a fruit slicer for us.

Mom apparently wandered off so, I don't have any picture of the first pudding layer.

Exhibited: extreme lack of shame.

And then there is second layer of cookies.  See the unashamedly broken cookies?  They provide extra cookie coverage so every bite is delicious.

See the beauteous layers forming!

Another layer of bananas!

Pudding may not want to be scooped and spread. But I believe you will prevail.

Then you apply the final layer of pudding.

Next, and very importantly,  you put the lid on the pudding dish, and you put it in the fridge overnight.

My sister and I celebrating the pudding!

After you have waited, oh so patiently, for the next day.  You can serve it!  Immediately after breakfast!  We usually only do that part on birthdays.

So worth the wait!

No recipe here.  It's just layers.  I didn't feel like typing it up separately.

  1. It is the perfect amount of banana pudding, but there are rarely leftovers.
